Welcome to Strontian Holiday Lodges

Out and About

Strontian is a charming village set at the head on Loch Sunart, a magnificent sea loch which with its surrounding mountains provides one of the most spectacular settings you could wish for. The village centre (which is only a short walk away) boasts a majestic copper beach in the centre of its green.

The village allows the remote highland experience but with a full range of amenities only a short walk from your lodge. In and around the village you will find a Post Office, petrol and diesel, a café, a fully licensed convenience store and lottery outlet, pottery, public library and The Sunart centre, a venue which hosts plays and concerts periodically (please see the  The Sunart Centre website for dates).

A full range of dining out is available, from pub grub through to fine dining.

For a lover of the outdoors Strontian has numerous beautiful walks.

  • Phemies walk takes you through large conifers and overlooks Strontian and Loch Sunart.
  • The Community woodland has some 60 species of tree, originally planted as policy woodland by the Riddle family in the early 1800’s , it comprises a network of paths past native and exotic trees. This path has recently been extended to meet up with the path through Ariundle.
  • Ariundle is a nature reserve which preserves one of the last areas of surviving ancient oakwoods, this beautiful walk passes through the forest and next to the Strontian river for some 8 km and makes a lovely day out as you picnic next to the river.

Strontian is the gateway to the Ardnamurchan peninsula, one of the last unspoilt regions of the U.K. The whole area is in easy reach, from Ardnamurchan point, the most westerly point on the British mainland, to the rising dunes and wide beaches of Sanna and the Singing Sands. Drive through moorland and soak in the magnificent seascapes , a truly breathtaking tour.

Strontian provides an excellent base for touring. Fortwilliam is only half an hours drive and Oban only one hour. Further a field Mull, Skye, and Loch Ness are just a few of the areas you can visit on your stay.

For younger visitors Balamory (Tobermory) is well worth a visit as you tour Mull.

For older children and the more adventurous there are numerous outdoor activities , including abseiling, canoeing, and indoor climbing and ice wall within an hours drive from Strontian.

From your base in Strontian you can enjoy many types of holiday and return home to your warm lodge and beautiful view.
